Peace Camp 2013

From crafts to cooking, swimming to drama it was a fun summer at Peace Camp. Campers studied conflict resolution, listening skills and peace movements from around the world. The youth focused on how media can used to further peace and justice in the world. Towards the end of the summer the older kids got to climb a rock wall. And in the last week everyone participated in putting on Peace Camp's first ever Anti-Bullying Fair!

This year the Peace Kids learned a lot about peace and justice movements close to home in Los Angeles. But they didn't just learn, they got out there and helped the community. In the fall the kids and youth packed lunches for the homeless in McArthur Park. And in the spring they traveled downtown to participate in a protest for peace and justice.

During this school year the Peace Kids are focusing on child poverty around the world. Our talented Peace Teachers have led the kids in music classes, writing exercises and cooking experiments. We also got to harvest the Peace Garden planted last summer!
