Interfaith Communities United For Justice and Peace was founded in Los Angeles after 9.11 to support the work of Faith leaders from Buddhist, Christian, Islamic, Jewish and other spiritual faiths and traditions who say “Religious Communities Must Stop Blessing War and Violence…” ICUJP’s activities promote critical examination of the costs of violence and war at home and in the world from the Faith perspective. We insist on respect for human rights, international law and the use of peaceful means in the resolution of conflicts.

 

Methodist Federation for Social Action, California-Pacific Chapter where Progressive United Methodists connect with one another and turn their faith into action. MFSA works to mobilize, lead and sustain a progressive United Methodist movement, energizing people to be agents of God’s justice, peace and reconciliation.

 

Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice brings the moral power of religious communities to ensure reproductive choice through education and advocacy. The Coalition seeks to give clear voice to the reproductive issues of people of color, those living in poverty, and other underserved populations.

 

Strategic Actions for a Just Economy (SAJE) is an economic justice, community development, and popular education center that has been building economic power for working class people in Los Angeles since 1996. In particular, UUC is a member of United Neighbors in Defense Against Displacement (UNIDAD), a campaign committed to future development of South LA that includes and benefits all members of the community.

 

Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE) is one of the oldest interfaith worker justice organizations in the country. CLUE LA’s mission is to bring together clergy and lay leaders of all faiths to join low-wage workers in their struggles for justice.

 

Home for Good LA, a joint initiative of United Way of Greater Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, the Business Leader’s Task Force on Homelessness is comprised of business leaders from throughout the county who have come together with a commitment to end homelessness in our region. Home for Good LA is the local branch of this task force.

 

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church For 100 years St. Mark’s Lutheran Church has been a church with a vision. The members of St. Mark’s strive to make God’s love alive in all that they do, in how they serve, in caring for each other and for all those around us, whoever they might be. St. Mark’s is a multi-church; multi-racial, multi-cultural, multi-lingual, multi-age, multi-class, even multi-denominational.

 

Dramastage-Qumran is a non-profit recovery theater company whose objective is to utilize community theater to impact the violence found in the individual, home, school and community. The goal of Dramastage-Qumran is to provide a forum for the community of Skid Row to access community theater and at the same time create a theater and Young Peoples Theatre Workshops for the many children who live in the Skid Row area.

 

New City Parish is an urban coalition of nine congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) located in Los Angeles, Inglewood, and Compton California. Focused on the transformation of our communities through holistic ministries and social outreach New City Parish (NCP) proclaims a message of hope and advocates for the poor & marginalized, to teach people how to think critically for themselves, and to heal and comfort those who are hungry and suffering in our inner-city communities.

 

T.R.U.S.T. South L.A. is a Community Land Trust established in November 2005 as a democratic and permanent steward of land, to challenge the role that speculators, absentee owners and corporations have played in deciding the neighborhoods’ future. With grant and loan funds raised from public and private sources, the Land Trust acquires land to be held in perpetuity by the community-controlled Land Trust, only to be leased for the development of affordable family housing and other community-serving uses.

 

St. Francis Center The mission of St. Francis Center is to serve homeless and near homeless families and individuals in the under-served neighborhoods of Greater Los Angeles in the manner of St. Francis of Assisi. The St. Francis Center works toward realizing each individual’s full human potential by facilitating the resolution of immediate needs and crises.
